Hi! I am Lee David!
(also known as Lady D)
I just LOVE being a mom.
I have one husband (my best friend), five kids (I know, I’m brave :-)), and three goldfish that my daughter bought somewhere (currently still alive).
I always thought that I would know exactly what to do with my children in various situations. I started reading about parenting even before I had any kids (!). A bit strange, I know, but I’ve always been interested in topics like parenting, influence, leadership, and what drives people (why the heck do people do the things they do…?). Bottom line, I wanted to “beat” the (unrepresentative)
statistics of my friends that suggests that parenting is difficult and exhausting.
I wanted my home to be warm, fun, and filled with the sounds of laughter and joy. But despite all the knowledge I accumulated, there have been days when I’ve felt like I’m not good enough as a mother, when I’ve wanted them to just go to sleep already, when I haven’t enjoyed being with them at all and only gave out orders (in the good case) or yelled at them (in other cases…).
The true change began when I heard my neighbor yelling at her kids one day. I suddenly realized that I sound like that too… It was pretty disconcerting, and I started educating myself again, but a bit more slowly, with gradual implementations. So maybe I wasn’t able to avoid yelling altogether, but the frequency (and volume ) of the yelling and stress decreased slowly. Additionally, I created many positive experiences that didn’t necessitate giving out orders and having military-like discipline….
My mission
I have a passion to change the world.
Seriously.
(when I am not carpooling my kids all afternoon)
And if not to change it, at least make it a better place to live, with better persons.
Better moms. Better children.
Since being a parent is very challenging, I do believe that never ending learning is the way to grow, for children and moms.
Since building positive and meaningful relationships is one way to happiness, I want to share my two cents about it.
Since I am only a human being (dahh!) I will share my experience – the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Anyway – what else do you want to know?
- I am 40 years old (OMG, I still can't believe it!!!).
- I am a (boring?...) CPA and I work as a finance controller at a private company.
- I am addicted to carbs (but want to succeed in the Paleo diet).
- I am kind of a control freak (but slowly recovering).
- I am a book worm. I read a lot, implement a bit less, and am always learning and improving. I will share my experience here, and what I have learned along the way.
- I always have something to say, on almost anything. This has its pros and cons. I can gain new friends quickly, but it's not so good when I am arguing with my husband :-).
- Cockroaches just freak me out. I know, I am bigger and stronger than them, and they don't do any harm. It doesn't help. If my husband is at home, I just throw on my feminist persona and ask him to take care of it!
- I live in Israel and have a funny English accent.
- English is not my first language. Although I have my favorite proofreader, if you find some sentences that sound weird or contain a typo, please let me know (I have issues with that and those grammar mistakes don't help my self-esteem…)
